Post Adoption Info

1.

Watch for the email from 24PetWatch regarding the gift of insurance! Make sure you open the email and accept the gift. The insurance is good for up to $750 with a $75 deductible that covers any accident or illness you many encounter in the first 30 days. You do have the option to renew this policy at the end of the 30 days for a reasonable monthly fee. If you do NOT receive the email from 24PetWatch within 3 days after your adoption, please call 1.877.291.1524 (you will need your microchip ID number – found at the top right corner of your receipt).

2.

Register your microchip by going to 24PetWatch.com.

3.

Take your new puppy to your vet within the first 7 days after adoption. Bring a fresh poop sample with you for testing.

4.

If you are changing your puppy’s food from what he/she was eating while in Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue’s care, please do so slowly so as not to upset your pup’s stomach. Utilize the outtake bag of food provided at your adoption during the transition. Read the nutrition paper in your folder and ALWAYS read the ingredient panel on the back of the dog food bag.

5.

Crate training your puppy helps make potty training easy! Never use the crate as a place of punishment. Read how to successfully crate train your puppy found in your adoption folder.

6.

Training your new puppy is an important part of the bonding process with your pet. By adopting through RMPR you are eligible to receive $20 off the training provided at the Petco store nearest you. Each store’s schedule varies – please contact the store where you would like to take lessons to get their current schedule of classes. Remember a trained dog is a loved dog!
